Chapter 9 — Settings
In this chapter: the register's shop settings (Einstellungen) and the personal user-account settings (Profil). This section is mostly for the shop manager.
9-1. System settings (Einstellungen)
The register's settings page has exactly 6 tabs: General, Sales, Tax, Payment, Certificate and Bridge. (The more complete catalogue, customer and tax settings are done in the dashboard — dashboard guide, Chapter 12.)
⚠️ Read-only mode: if your role is allowed to view the settings but not to change them, the page opens with a yellow "read-only" bar and the save button doesn't work.
General (Allgemein)
The shop information that's printed on receipts and invoices: name and company, address, phone/fax, email, banking details (IBAN/BIC), tax and commercial registration numbers. In addition:
- Business Type: the most important option — this is what determines whether the shop is retail or a restaurant, and as a result features such as tables and the kitchen appear or are hidden.
- Languages: the default language and the supported languages (for a multilingual shop and receipt), the time zone, the first day of the week.
Sales (Verkäufe)
The most content-rich tab. The main sections:
- POS options: on/off toggles that determine which buttons are visible on the sales screen — POS view, product suggestion, holding the basket (Hold), sending to the kitchen, splitting the order, the cash drawer, assigning staff, deposit and "add deposit automatically".
- Print (Print POS): full printer configuration (type, device, IP, paper width, auto-print, preview before printing) and choosing the template for 8 document types: quote, checkout, order, invoice, refund, kitchen ticket, shift report and signature.
- Basket and checkout rules: minimum order amount, showing the mini basket, allowing a guest, terms and conditions, allowing reordering, the "total after discount" basis.
- Sales emails: switching the automatic email on/off for each document (order, invoice, shipment, refund).
- Platform prices: the automatic price mark-up percentage for each online ordering platform + automatic acceptance and default time.
- Automatic shift close at a set time.
Tax (Steuer)
The tax calculation method and basis, tax on tips, the cost-tax mode, destination-based calculation (country/state), and separate toggles for showing tax in the catalogue / basket / print. (Don't change these settings without coordinating with your accountant.)
Payment (Zahlung)
- Enabling/disabling payment methods and setting the default method
- Switching the quick payment and pay later (credit) buttons on/off
- Setting the default cash and card method for the quick buttons
Certificate (Zertifikat) — RKSV
Purchasing and tracking the digital signing certificate of the Austrian cash register regulation. An important note: the certificate is per location, not per individual register — one active certificate serves all registers at that same location. The certificate is purchased from a central service (as an annual subscription), and here you see the request status, the provider and the payment status. The certificate isn't activated until a "start receipt" is issued on a register; until then, receipts don't get a legal signature. Full details of the purchase flow are in the RKSV certificate reference and the dashboard guide, Chapter 12.
Bridge (Brücke) — register hardware
Connecting local devices via the Bridge helper app:
- Receipt printer — selection and a test print
- Customer display — the display on which the customer sees the items and the total; includes choosing the display template and its language
- Scale — for weighed products; with precise connection settings (Baud/Data/Stop bits, Parity, device identifier, weight units, read command)
- A device search button and a test for each one
💡 If a device can't be found, first make sure the Bridge app is running on the same device/network (the Bridge guide is in the side-apps documentation).
9-2. Personal account (Profil)
Each user sets these for themselves:
- Profile: name, email, phone.
- Security:
- Changing the password
- Two-factor authentication: enabling/disabling + recovery codes (print them and keep them somewhere safe; they can be regenerated)
- Managing active devices (logging out of old devices)
- Account PIN (inside this same Security tab): setting/changing/removing the quick-unlock PIN for the lock screen (Chapter 1).
- Appearance: light/dark theme and display preferences. (The quick theme switch also has its own dedicated button in the app's top bar.)
- Notifications: notification preferences are shown as a channel table — for each notification category you specify separately how it should reach you: email, in-app, browser or app.
- Connections: the personal services connected.
- Log out (Abmelden) and choosing a language from the user menu.
9-3. The notification bell in the top bar
Separately from the notification settings, there's always a bell icon in the app's top bar that shows live notifications (account activity, system events, etc.). Clicking it opens the notifications list, and you can mark them all as "read". Sounds and the online-order alarm are explained in Chapter 2, the audio section and Chapter 5, the platforms section.
