Chapter 2 — Catalogue (Katalog)

In this chapter: creating and managing products, categories, brands, collections and barcodes. Anything you create here is visible both at the point of sale and on the website.

2-1. Categories (Kategorie)

  • Categories are shown as a tree (category and sub-category).
  • Create a category: name, parent category, image and display settings.
  • The order and structure of the tree directly affect the site menu and the sales screen at the point of sale.
💡 Keep categories simple and shallow; the cashier should reach any item in two taps.

2-2. Products (Produkt)

The most important part of the catalogue. Create a product is a multi-section form:

  • General: name, code (SKU), short and full description, active/inactive status.
  • Pricing: selling price, purchase price and, if needed, a special price.
  • Stock: quantity, warehouse/source, behaviour when out of stock.
  • Attributes: the values of defined attributes (colour, size, material, etc.) — the attributes themselves are created in settings (Chapter 12).
  • Images: the product gallery; the first image is the main image.
  • Related products: related, complementary (cross-sell) and alternative (up-sell) — these are the basis of the automatic suggestions on the site and at the point of sale.
  • Unit and barcode: the sales unit and the product's barcodes.
  • SEO: title and description for search engines and the page address (URL).

Variable product (multiple sizes/colours)

  1. Create the product as a "variable/configurable" type.
  2. Specify the selectable attributes (for example size and colour).
  3. Create the variants; each variant has its own code, price and stock.

Batch editing

Select several products in the list and use batch editing (Batch) to apply a single change to all of them (for example changing the status or category).

2-3. Brands (Brand)

  • Create/edit a brand with a name and image.
  • The brand is shown on the product page and has its own dedicated, filterable page on the site.

2-4. Collections (Sammlung)

  • A collection is a curated group of products (such as "Summer offer").
  • Create a collection and add products; it has its own dedicated page on the site.

2-5. Barcodes (Strichcode)

  • A list of all barcodes; adding a barcode to a product.
  • Print a barcode label for the shelf/item.
  • A single product can have several barcodes (for example an individual barcode and a multipack barcode with a quantity multiplier).
💡 Suggested route for starting a new catalogue: first create the attributes and attribute sets (Chapter 12) → then the categories → then the products → and finally the barcodes and related products.
