Chapter 1 — Getting started
In this chapter: logging in, choosing a location and register, locking the screen between two cashiers, and opening your first shift.
1-1. Logging in (Anmelden)
- Open the point of sale address in your browser (your shop manager will give you this address).
- Enter your email or mobile number and your password.
- If this is your usual device, leave the "Remember me" option switched on so you can log in more quickly next time.
- Tap Log in (Anmelden).
If "two-factor authentication" is enabled for your account, you'll be asked for a code after your password (Zwei-Faktor-Bestätigung). Read the code from the authenticator app on your phone and enter it.
Forgotten your password?
- Tap "Forgotten your password?".
- Enter your email; a message is sent to you.
- Follow the link in the email and set a new password. If the email doesn't arrive, tap the "Resend email" button and check your spam folder too.
💡 You can also log in with external accounts (for example a corporate account) if your shop manager has enabled it; in that case its button appears on the login screen.
1-2. Choosing a location and register (Standort und Kasse)
After you log in, the first screen asks which location and which register device you're working on:
- Choose the location (Standort).
- Choose the register device (Kasse).
- Tap Continue.
The app now downloads the product catalogue and settings for that location — the first time may take a little while. This download is exactly what later lets the register work without an internet connection.
⚠️ Choosing the correct register matters: sales, the shift and the cash drawer are all recorded against the very device you select here.
1-3. The lock screen and quick PIN (Sperrbildschirm)
When several people work on one device, there's no need to log out and back in each time — just lock the screen:
- When the screen is locked, the "Session locked" message (Sitzung gesperrt) is shown and the list of this device's cashiers appears.
- To come back, choose your name and enter your PIN (quick unlock / Schnell entsperren) — or, if you don't have a PIN, log in again with your password.
- With the "Add another cashier" (Weiteren Kassierer hinzufügen) button, a new colleague can add themselves to this same device with their own account.
- With the remove button, you can take someone off this device's list (they aren't logged out of their account, they're only removed from this device).
Where does the PIN come from?
Each user sets their own PIN under User account → Security → Account PIN (see Chapter 9). Without a PIN, quick unlock isn't available.
1-4. Opening a shift (Neue Schicht eröffnen)
Until a shift is open, no sale can be recorded. If you go into the sales screen and no shift is open, the app itself asks you to open one:
- Tap "Open a new shift" (Neue Schicht eröffnen).
- Enter the opening cash balance (Eröffnungssaldo) — that is, the cash that is actually in the drawer right now. Count it and enter it precisely.
- Confirm. The sales screen is now ready.
⚠️ Don't enter the opening balance carelessly. When you close the shift, the system compares the calculated balance with your actual count and records any discrepancy (Chapter 7).
1-5. A look at the main sales screen
Once the shift is open, the main screen (Kasse) looks like this:
- The catalogue side: categories and product cards with price and stock status, plus a search box.
- The basket side: the selected items, the totals, and below them the action button bar and the large Pay button.
- The baskets sidebar: all open baskets; from here you create a new basket or switch between baskets.
- (Restaurant) a button for going to the floor plan (Raumplan) and working with tables.
From the next chapter onwards, we follow the recording of a real sale step by step.
