Chapter 7 — Shifts and reports
In this chapter: managing the register's cash during the day (pay-ins/pay-outs), closing a shift and the end-of-day count, and sales and financial reports.
7-1. What is a shift?
A shift (Schicht) is the register's working period: it opens with an "opening balance", all sales and cash movements are recorded within it, and at the end it's closed with an actual cash count. Opening a shift was explained in Chapter 1.
In the Shift section, you see the list of shifts, and by selecting any one you see its details: the location, the employee, the open/close times, the number of orders, the tips and the breakdown of payment methods (how much cash, how much card, etc.).
7-2. Cash pay-ins and pay-outs during a shift
Any money that enters or leaves the drawer outside of a sale must be recorded:
- Pay-in / adding cash (Einzahlung – Geld einlegen): for example, adding change. Enter the amount and write a note (for example "change from the bank").
- Pay-out / removing cash (Auszahlung – Geld entnehmen): for example, paying a courier or transferring to the safe. The amount + a note.
⚠️ Don't take any money out of the drawer without recording it — otherwise you'll have a discrepancy at the end of the shift and it won't be clear why.
7-3. Closing a shift (Schicht beenden)
At the end of the day/working period:
- In the Shift section, tap "Close shift".
- Count all the cash in the drawer completely and enter it as the real closing balance (Real Closing Balance).
- The app compares it with the calculated balance (Theoretical Closing Balance) and shows the difference (Difference).
- Confirm. The shift report (Shift Report) is generated; view it with "Preview shift report" and print it. (This is the equivalent of the Z report; an interim/interim-receipt report is also available separately — the equivalent of X. The app doesn't display the term "X/Z".)
💡 If you have a discrepancy, review the shift transactions list once before closing — it's usually an unrecorded pay-out or a mistake in the cash remainder.

💡 The shop can enable "automatic shift close" at a set time; in that case open shifts are closed at that hour.
7-4. Sales reports (Bericht)
- Orders report (Bestellungen): all orders in a chosen range, with filtering and export.
- Invoices report (Rechnungen): the invoices issued.
7-5. The monthly close (Monatlicher Abschluss)
A complete financial summary of one month, suitable for handing to the accountant:
- Gross/net sales, tax by rate, discounts
- Receivables (credit sales) at the start and end of the month, open and settled invoices
- Issuance, redemption and balance of gift cards
- Net cash flow and a breakdown by product category and tax class
- PDF / CSV / Excel export
7-6. The RKSV signature list (Signature List)
Specifically for compliance with the Austrian cash register regulation — a list of all the financial signatures of invoices and refunds:
- Signature number, type, status, tax amount and signing time
- Search, filter and PDF/CSV/Excel export
- In a tax audit, this list is exactly what the inspector wants; it must always be error-free. If a signature stays "pending" for a long time, see Chapter 10.
