Chapter 5 — Restaurant mode

In this chapter: the floor plan and tables, linking an order to a table, sending to the kitchen, and the reservation reception desk. These features are only visible when the shop is configured as a restaurant.

5-1. The floor plan (Raumplan)

From the sales screen, use the mode-switch button to go to the floor plan. The dining room is shown as it really is:

  • Zones (Zone) and areas (Bereich) — for example "main room", "terrace".
  • Tables with a status colour: free, occupied, reserved, out of service.
  • At the top of the screen you can filter tables by status, source or time.
  • Each zone's summary card shows the total seats and the number of its open baskets.

Working with a table

Tap a table to open the table actions (Tischaktionen) panel:

  • Open/create a basket for the table: this table's order starts here. If the table already has an open basket, that one opens.
  • Link or detach a basket from the table — for example, when guests change tables, link the basket to the new table.
  • Link or detach a reservation from the table.

The normal service flow is: choose the table → open its basket → add the items → send to the kitchen → at the end, take payment from the same basket (Chapter 3).

5-2. Editing the dining room layout

The manager can change the layout from edit mode:

  • Create/edit/delete zones and areas
  • Add a table, move it and resize it by dragging, set the number of seats and position
  • Set the default zone
💡 Set the layout up correctly once so that waiting staff see on screen exactly what's in the dining room.

5-3. Sending to the kitchen (Küche)

When a table's order is ready to send:

  1. Tap the Kitchen (Küche) button on the bottom bar of the basket.
  2. The items go to the relevant station(s): they appear on the kitchen display and/or a ticket is printed on the kitchen printer (depending on the shop's setting).
  3. Items you add later are sent as a new change with the next send.
  • Resending kitchen tickets (Küchenbons erneut senden): if a ticket is lost or the printer had a problem, tap this button to print/send it again.
  • Item notes (such as "no onions") go to the kitchen along with the ticket — write the note on the row before sending.

5-4. The reservation reception desk (Reservierungsempfang)

A separate screen for managing the day's reservations:

Viewing and filtering reservations

  • A list of reservations with a filter by status, table/source and time range (today, the next 24 hours, the next 7 days).
  • Reservation statuses: draft → pending → confirmedchecked in (Check-in) → check-out (Check-out) → completed.

A walk-in guest (Walk-in)

  1. Tap the "Create a walk-in" (Walk-in anlegen) button.
  2. Enter the guest's name and phone, the number of people, the table/source and the duration.
  3. You can confirm and check in at the same time — the guest goes straight to the table.

Working with a reservation

When you select a reservation, you see its details: the main guest, the number of people, the assigned table and the linked basket. The reservation's full status cycle is managed from here:

  • Confirm, check in (Check-in), check out (Check-out), complete, cancel and no-show (No-show).
  • Linking a basket to the reservation or opening the linked basket — so the guest's order is recorded directly against their reservation.
  • Stay account (Folio): open/close/reopen a folio, record charges and balance; if the reservation has a deposit or prepayment, it's taken into account in the final payment.
  • Lock/unlock the reservation's order.

Alerts and tasks (Live Ops)

The side panel shows alerts (for example "the guest is late") and open tasks. On each task you can tap start / complete / cancel / reopen or leave a comment; you can also resolve or mute each alert to keep the list tidy. If the live connection drops for a moment, a recovery message is shown, and once reconnected the list refreshes itself.

💡 If a reservation has an "order lock", it means its order shouldn't be changed — first coordinate the status with the floor supervisor.

Creating or linking a reservation from within the basket (without going to the reception desk)

You don't always have to go to the reception-desk screen — while building a basket on the sales screen, from the "Reservation search" panel you can:

  • Create a new reservation: with the empty-slot picker, the number of people and the guest's details — right then and linked to this basket.
  • Attach an existing live reservation to the basket — before recording the order.

The reservation bar on the basket shows which reservation the basket is linked to.

5-5. Receiving online orders from platforms

If the shop is connected to online ordering platforms (Lieferando, Foodora, Wolt, Wix), online orders come straight to the register:

  • When a new order arrives, the "New orders" window opens and an audible alarm plays so you notice even when it's busy.
  • Review and accept the order; the accepted order enters the normal flow as a basket/order and goes to the kitchen if needed.
  • Platform-specific prices and automatic acceptance are set in Settings → Sales → "Platform prices" (Chapter 9).
💡 If the alarm doesn't play, it's usually because the browser hasn't been granted permission to play sound yet — touch/click the screen once to enable the sound.
