Chapter 3 — Payment and receipt

In this chapter: settling the customer's bill — cash, card, split payment, tip, credit sale, and printing or sending the receipt.

3-1. Ways to start a payment

You have two options:

  • The large Pay button at the bottom of the basket (with the amount due written on it) → the full payment window opens. For a split payment, tip or credit sale, go this way.
  • Quick-payment shortcuts: the one-tap Cash (Barzahlung) and Card (Kreditkarte) buttons for simple sales where the whole amount is paid with a single method. (If the shop has enabled them.)

3-2. The payment window (Zahlung)

In the payment window you see the list of payment methods (Zahlungsarten): cash, card/terminal, gift card, shop credit and any method the shop has enabled.

Cash payment

  1. Choose the "cash" method.
  2. Enter the amount the customer gave.
  3. The app calculates the change for you and shows it.
  4. Confirm — the cash drawer opens.

Card payment (card terminal)

  1. Choose the "card" method.
  2. The amount is sent to the card reader; the customer taps their card.
  3. The result comes back to the register automatically. If needed, you can also record the transaction's reference number.
⚠️ If the card transaction fails, its message appears on the register and the card reader's receipt. Settle with another method or try again. If the connection to the card reader can't be established, see Chapter 10 (troubleshooting).

Gift card and shop credit

  • Gift card: choose the "gift card" method and enter the code; the amount is deducted up to the card's balance.
  • Shop credit: if the customer is on the basket and has credit, choose it as a payment method.

Split payment (several methods together)

Example: the customer pays 50 euros in cash and the rest by card:

  1. Choose the first method (cash) and enter its amount.
  2. Tap "Add payment method" (Zahlungsmethode hinzufügen).
  3. Choose the second method; the app shows the amount remaining (Gesamt zu vereinnahmen).
  4. When the remaining amount reaches zero, confirm.

3-3. Tip (Trinkgeld)

During payment you can add a tip:

  • Two modes: round up the amount (Round Up) and fixed amount (Fix Amount) — plus "no tip" to decline. "Fixed amount" is a free-entry keypad (there is no separate "preset" and "custom" option).
  • The shop sets the tip cap; anything above it isn't accepted.
  • The tip is recorded separately in the shift report and also appears on the receipt.

3-4. Credit sale (Später bezahlen)

If the customer is going to settle later:

  1. In the payment window, tap "Pay later" (Später bezahlen).
  2. The order is recorded but its balance stays "open".
  3. Later, from the Orders section, open that order and tap "Take payment" (Chapter 6).
💡 For a credit sale it's best to always have a customer on the basket so that it's clear later who owes.

3-5. The success screen and receipt

After payment, the "Order created successfully" (Bestellung erfolgreich erstellt) screen appears with the order number. From here:

  • Print receipt (Beleg drucken): the receipt is printed on the thermal printer. If "auto-print" is enabled, it prints automatically; the print button for a second copy is always there.
  • Digital receipt: a QR code is shown for the customer to scan with their phone, or you can send the receipt to the customer's email.
  • The cash drawer (on a cash payment) opens automatically.
  • If the sale was linked to a reservation, the reservation link is also visible here.
  • With "New order" (Neue Bestellung), move on to the next customer.

Every receipt automatically receives a legal digital signature, and its QR code is printed on the printed receipt. You don't need to do anything.

  • If, for a moment, the signing device isn't available, the phrase "signature pending" appears on the receipt; the sale is valid and the signature is completed automatically later.
  • The list of all signatures is available to the manager in the reports section (Chapter 7).
